Lucas passed away on May 31, 2021. Lucas struggled with mental illness and fought for years to get help in a broken system. He began experimenting and mixing drugs and alcohol to numb the pain, Luke suffered strokes to both sides of his brain. Luke was on life support for a week so that his family could fulfill his wishes and donate organs and tissue.
Lucas was a gifted singer and actor, the stage was the home of his heart and where he felt safe. He met his people through theatre. His love for music is displayed through the tattoo as he’s seen holding his guitar continuing to play. The hands are from a photo Lukesmomforever18 and her husband took at the hospital. Luke had a great love of the ocean and felt a connection to it. This tattoo represents the love his parents have for Lucas and the recognition that they will continue the fight for better mental health awareness and support in his name.
This tattoo was designed by Nicole’s Tattoos in Oxford. Lukesmomforever18 sent the tattoo artist pictures and they incorporated them into the design. She picked the tattoo’s placement so she can see him and have a piece of him at all times. When she’s lonely, sad, and missing him, she can bring the tattoo to her heart and hug him. Luke’s mom is still in the early days of grief, but she feels like it gives her peace to see him on her arm and she feels close to him.
