Nicole has a tattoo of a pocket watch showing the 11th hour, located on the inside of her ankle. The tattoo memorializes her late father, and the 11th is the day he passed away. The design reminds Nicole of both the old pocket watch from the bunny in Alice in Wonderland, and her father’s punctuality. Nicole shares: “Time was very important to my dad and when he passed away there wasn’t really anyone that valued it in the same way. My dad was the one who took me to basketball games and would get me there WAY before my game started so I could scope out competition and just relax.”
Nicole explains that the process of getting the tattoo allowed her to process his death further. She says that when her dad died, she shut down emotionally, but adds, “I got this tattoo and I was like ‘yes, this is it’ because I knew that the idea behind it would make him proud. I vow to take time seriously. And that can be shown in so many ways.”
