In 2019, Vee lost her sister to cancer. Vee’s sister was her only sibling and she experienced complications with a cancer relapse. Vee says that the initial shock and grief made it difficult to discuss her sister’s death “without a rush of emotions.” In the aftermath of this great loss, Vee decided to get a tattoo in memory of her sister. Vee explains, “I had always wanted a tattoo but never knew what to get, but when I came up with this design, I knew it was a perfect tribute to a pretty amazing sister!” The tattoo, developed with a local artist, is a flower with a “B” in the stem for her sister’s initial. Vee hopes to add to the tattoo in honour of her late brother-in-law who died of cancer less than one year after her sister. Vee has experienced healing as she openly shares the meaning behind her tattoo. She explains, “Getting the tattoo and having people ask about the story behind it has really helped. I no longer dread talking about what happened.”
